Supporting and Engaging Youth

Provincial Government Invites Applications for 2015 Grants to Youth Organizations

The Provincial Government announced today that applications are now being accepted for 2015 Grants to Youth Organizations.

"Through their skills, enthusiasm, and ingenuity, youth are helping Newfoundland and Labrador move forward economically and culturally at a critical point in our history. By investing in youth-based organizations, which provide important tools and learning opportunities for young people, we are working together to ensure the next generation of residents have the supports and confidence they need to become leaders in their communities."
- The Honourable Steve Kent, Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement

Each year, Grants to Youth Organizations offer a wide range of youth-based initiatives to youth centres and leadership organizations to help young people focus on self-reliance, leadership and citizen development.

There are two types of grants available: special project grants that provide funding for the provision of a specific service or event; and program grants which make a contribution to support the development/delivery of new or existing organizational programs. Regardless of type, applications are assessed based on the following criteria:

  • The purpose and structure of a program or activity;
  • The degree to which the effort will engage youth; and
  • The likelihood that an initiative will address a current gap in community service.
