Minister Seeking Nominations to Advisory Council on Status of Women

The Honourable Judy Manning, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, is inviting nominations for members to serve on the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women (PACSW).

�The women�s community and the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women play an important role in advancing the status of women in this province. I want to encourage any woman who feels that she can contribute to this advancement to put her name forward. This is an opportunity for women of Newfoundland and Labrador who make a difference at home, at work, and in their communities, to have a positive impact at the provincial level.�

The PACSW provides advice to the Minister and brings attention to important social, political, legal, cultural and economic matters relating to women in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Council works with equality-seeking organizations and government departments and agencies to advance women�s equality throughout the province.

Candidates must have demonstrated leadership ability and have a history of working on issues related to the status of women. Candidates must also be committed to working within the mandate of the Council. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 20, 2015.
