Recognizing the Community Sector

Provincial Government Invites Applications for 2015 Volunteer Week Grants

In recognition of Volunteer Week, taking place from April 12 to 18, the Provincial Government is inviting organizations dedicated to building the community sector in Newfoundland and Labrador to apply for 2015 Volunteer Week grants. The deadline for applications is March 6, 2015.

Volunteer Week celebrates the power of women and men who are making a difference each day in their communities. With non-profit organizations actively preparing for this years events, the Provincial Government is encouraging representatives to apply for Volunteer Week grants, which are designed to help support their incredible efforts to provide services for people across Newfoundland and Labrador.
- The Honourable Steve Kent, Deputy Premier and Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement

Grants valued at $100 are available. Eligible applicants should be incorporated non-profit organizations and/or registered charities in good standing. The grants are designed to support organizations in hosting volunteer events during Volunteer Week. The theme of this years Volunteer Week is The Many Faces of Volunteering, which recognizes the diversity of the people who volunteer in communities and the many ways they are involved. The Provincial Government is nearing completion on a census of volunteer organizations the first of its kind in Canada which will help government and community organizations identify the needs of the community sector.
