Media Advisory: Premier to Attend National Governors Association Winter Meeting
The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will attend the annual National Governors Association Winter Meeting, February 20-23, in Washington, D.C. Discussions at the meeting will focus on innovative best practices in the areas of energy, education, health care and employment. Premier Davis will be joined in Washington, D.C. by the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Natural Resources.
The Premier will address the United States Chamber of Commerce at the Hall of Flags tomorrow (Friday, February 20). The event starts at 8:00 a.m. The Premier will also attend a reception on Friday at the Canadian Embassy. The reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and is hosted by His Excellency Gary Doer, Canada’s Ambassador to the United States and His Excellency Eduardo Medina Mora, Mexico’s Ambassador to the United States. In addition, the Premier and Minister will meet with New England Governors to discuss mutual energy issues.
Established in 1908, the National Governors Association is the collective voice of the nation’s governors and is one of the most respected public policy organizations. Its members are the governors of the 55 states, territories and commonwealths. Through the National Governors Association, members identify priority issues and deal collectively with matters of public policy and governance at the state and national levels.
