ONL Acknowledges Commitment to Excellence; Nomination Deadline is February 28
The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, is reminding all residents that the deadline to nominate a deserving individual for the province's most prestigious award, the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador, is Saturday, February 28, 2015.
"Since it was established in 2004, the Order has been bestowed upon 69 deserving individuals who represent excellence in the fields of philanthropy, business, human rights, athletics, the arts, tourism, science and medicine - just to name a few. And while their backgrounds and life experiences are all very different, they all share one common trait - their commitment to enriching the lives of their fellow Newfoundlanders and Labradorians."
- The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
At a formal ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, as Chancellor of the Order, presents each recipient with a medal bearing the shield of Newfoundland and Labrador surmounted by the Crown. Members receive a certificate signed by the chancellor and sealed with the seal of the Order, as well as a lapel pin. Members of the Order are also entitled to use the initials O.N.L. after their names.
"We all know people in our communities who continuously give of their time and energy, often at their own personal sacrifice. What better way to recognize someone's hard work, perseverance and dedication than nominating them for this prestigious honour?"
- Premier Davis
