Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

Minister's Decision EXTENDED:

Logy Bay Road NORM Temporary Storage Facility        (Reg. 1802)
Proponent: Crosbie Industrial Services Ltd.

The Minister of Environment and Conservation and the proponent, Crosbie Industrial Services Limited, have agreed to extend the deadline for the Minister's decision to August 31, 2015, in order to facilitate a thorough review of this project.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Holyrood Marine Base Phase IIA        (Reg. 1804)
Proponent: Fisheries and Marine Institute - Memorial University of Newfoundland

The proponent has submitted a registration to expand the current Marine Institute Facilities on the western shoreline of South Arm, Holyrood Bay. The expansion will include the adjacent former fish processing plant to the north. This facility will provide the required berthing space for research vessels, capabilities for offshore related ocean training, Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) research and development and other related training exercises. The major features of this undertaking will include the construction of a timber crib marginal wharf, timber breakwater, timber finger pier, and the rehabilitation of the existing T-shaped wharf. Construction is expected to commence in late September 2015.

The undertaking was registered on July 30, 2015; the deadline for public comments is September 3, 2015; and the minister's decision is due by September 13, 2015.
