Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Municipal Habitat Stewardship Agreement Signing Ceremonies
The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation, will participate in two Municipal Habitat Stewardship Agreement signing ceremonies tomorrow (Friday, June 19).
The minister, along with Kevin Parsons, MHA for Cape St. Francis, will join officials from the Town of Bauline for a signing ceremony taking place beside the Duck Pond off Bauline Line at 9:30 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the signing will take place in the Bauline United Church, 4 Main Street, Bauline.
At 11:15 a.m., the minister will join the Honourable David Brazil, Minister of Transportation and Works and MHA for Conception Bay East - Bell Island, and officials from the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philips for a signing ceremony at the Voisey’s Brook Park. In the event of inclement weather, the signing will take place in Voisey’s Brook Park Hut, which is the building between the park’s sport fields.
The Municipal Habitat Stewardship Program, administered by the provincial Wildlife Division, is an initiative of the Newfoundland and Labrador portion of the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture. The program is an innovative approach to habitat conservation that recognizes and encourages local responsibility for the stewardship of our natural resources, particularly those areas of importance to local wildlife populations.
