MacDonald Drive Junior High to Receive Exterior Upgrades

Window and door replacements highlight a $1.7 million investment in upgrades to MacDonald Drive Junior High in St. John�s.

Brook Construction Inc. of Corner Brook has been awarded the contract for window and door upgrades at MacDonald Drive Junior High which accommodates students from Grades 7 to 9. Including this latest contract, more than $2.2 million has been approved for MacDonald Drive Junior High, for a total investment of $27.5 million for schools in the district of Virginia Waters since 2004.

The Provincial Government has allocated more than $731 million since 2004 in K-12 infrastructure to ensure students and teachers continue to enjoy safe and healthy learning environments. Fourteen new schools have been opened; 11 more are in various stages of planning or construction; 27 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, with 13 more underway; and approximately 1,930 repairs and maintenance projects have been approved.

Budget 2015 allocates $95 million to support K-12 infrastructure as part of the multi-year education infrastructure plan.
