Supporting Economic Growth in Rural Communities

Mariner�s Memorial and Dynamic Air Shelters Receive Funding from Provincial Government

Continuing its commitment to supporting tourism, culture and economic diversification, the Provincial Government is providing funding to the Grand Bank Heritage Society to complete the final stage of the Mariner�s Memorial project repairs to George C. Harris House. The Provincial Government is also supporting expansion efforts of local employer, Dynamic Air Shelters Ltd.

The Grand Bank Heritage Society is receiving more than $81,000 towards completion of the Mariner�s Memorial, which will include the installment of cobblestone paths to increase accessibility at the site, and repairs to George C. Harris House.

The Provincial Government is investing $41,000 in Dynamic Air Shelter�s Ltd to assist the company in expanding its market into the Netherlands. The company will participate in industry meetings and a trade show in Rotterdam. Dynamic Air Shelters manufactures inflatable structures for various uses including industrial, commercial and emergencies, and currently employs more than 70 people.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has invested more than $200 million in economic and business development initiatives since 2005. Through the Regional Development Fund, the Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development provides support to organizations by way of non-repayable contributions for projects aimed at supporting economic development, innovation and capacity building in all regions of the province. The Business Investment Fund provides a source of funding to business and economic sectors that responds to the changing needs of enterprises.
