Public Advisory: Update on Freight Delivery to Coastal Communities of Labrador

The Department of Transportation and Works is advising that the last day that freight will be accepted in Lewisporte for guaranteed delivery to coastal communities of Labrador is Friday, November 7. The deadline for freight to be accepted in Happy Valley-Goose Bay is Friday, November 14.

The shipment of goods to the Labrador north coast will continue for as long as ice and weather conditions allow but delivery of freight received after this date cannot be guaranteed. Typically, freight service has ended in late November or early December. Federal and Provincial Government air subsidies continue to be available to offset the cost of air freight on such products as fresh milk and perishable food items.

Passenger service on the MV Northern Ranger will continue until ice conditions prevent the ferry from safely travelling to coastal communities in Labrador.

For information related to freight schedules, passenger service on the MV Northern Ranger, please contact Nunatsiavut Marine at 1-855-896-2262 or by visiting www.labradorferry.ca External Link.
