Sound Approach to Strengthening Transportation Infrastructure

$1.8 Million in Road and Bridge Improvement Contracts Awarded on the Burin Peninsula

Contracts totalling $1.8 million have been awarded to Nortech Construction and Mallay’s Industrial Services Ltd. for road and bridge improvements on the Burin Peninsula. The work associated with both of these contracts will be completed this year.

Nortech Construction has been awarded $1,397,375 to upgrade and pave 2.6 kilometres of Route 210 from Grand Bank towards Molliers, and complete asphalt levelling of 1.6 kilometres of Route 220 through the community of Fortune and 1.5 kilometres between Lamaline and Point May.

Mallay’s Industrial Services Ltd. has been awarded $452,665 to replace a timber bridge with an aluminum box culvert and complete associated road work in the community of Brookside, Route 210-15.

Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook provides more than $81 million for the Provincial Road Improvement Program, representing one of the largest investments to date to facilitate upgrades and enhancements to provincial roads, highways and bridges.
