Strengthening Local and Regional Infrastructure

Trinity - Bay de Verde to Receive Infrastructure Improvements Totalling $3.2 million

Concord Paving has been awarded a contract valued at $3.2 million for improvements to road and highway infrastructure in Trinity - Bay de Verde.

As a government, we believe that this presents a unique opportunity to secure more competitive bids and enables contractors to better utilize our province’s road construction season. This approach reflects our commitment to exploring new ways of maximizing our considerable investments in Newfoundland and Labrador’s transportation infrastructure.”

The road work includes the rehabilitation of approximately five kilometres of Route 74, Hearts Content Barrens, which will be completed in 2015. The remaining work includes approximately one kilometre of Route 80 at New Melbourne; approximately two kilometres of Route 70 near Perry’s Cove; 1.7 kilometres of Route70-37, Perry’s Cove Road; and, approximately one kilometre of levelling asphalt in Bay de Verde. Upgrades on Route 73, New Harbour Barrens will be included in another contract and will be completed in 2014.

Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook includes infrastructure investments totalling $852.7 million, which reflects the significance of a well-developed transportation network and access to infrastructure for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
