The following is being distributed at the request of School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador:

School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador Holding Provincial Track and Field Tournament This Weekend

School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador winds up the 2013-14 athletic year, as Stephenville High is the host school for the Provincial Track and Field Championships. Six schools will be represented including the host, Stephenville High, Piccadilly Central High, Belanger Memorial (Doyles), Corner Brook Regional High, Burgeo Academy and Gander Collegiate.

Provincial champions will be declared for boys and girls in the following individual events:
Sprints – 100m, 200m, 400m
Middle Distance – 800m, 1500m, 1500m racewalk, 3000 m
Throws – shotput, javelin, discus
Jumps – high jump, long jump standing long jump
Relays – 4 X 100m 4 X 400 m 4 X 100m and integrated

Boys and Girls team champions will be declared as well.

The schedule is as follows:

Session 1 – Friday Evening Track Events
6:00 p.m. 200m Girls
6:20 p.m. 200m Boys
7:00 p.m. 1500m Girls Final
7:15 p.m. 1500 m Boys Final
7:30 p.m. 200m Girls Final
7:40 p.m. 200m Boys Final
8:00 p.m. 4 X 400m Girls Relay
8:15 p.m. 4 X 400 m Boys

In addition to the gold and silver SSNL medals, a championship banner will be awarded to the winning team. Individual gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded at the individual events. SSNL believes strongly in the values and principles of Sportsmanship. In recognition of this, an individual sportsmanship medal will be presented to one deserving person from each team.
