Province’s Marketing Efforts Continue to Bolster Vibrant Tourism Industry

Province’s Tourism Campaign Wins Three 2013 Adrian Awards

The province’s Find Yourself tourism marketing campaign has won three 2013 Adrian Awards, presented by Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) at an event in New York City earlier this week. The HSMAI 2013 Adrian Awards honour outstanding achievement in advertising, public relations and digital marketing in the travel industry.

The campaign won the following awards: Silver - Find Yourself - TV Campaign; Silver - Conversation - Complete Campaign; and, Bronze - Language Lessons - Multimedia Series.

Since 2006, Newfoundland and Labrador tourism marketing has won over 40 Adrian Awards from HSMAI, including five Platinum awards. HSMAI is an international organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of hospitality, travel and tourism.

• To date, the province’s Find Yourself campaign has won 210 awards.
• Tourism spending reached $1 billion in Newfoundland and Labrador for the first time in 2011, putting the province well ahead of schedule for achieving the Vision 2020 goal of doubling tourism spending to $1.6 billion annually.
• Between 2009 and 2012, non-resident visitation increased 21 per cent, surpassing a milestone of half a million visitors during that period.
• Since 2006, the Provincial Government has invested more than $100 million in tourism marketing.
