Enhancing E-Services for Communities and Families

Motor Vehicle Registration Services Now Available Through epost™

Today, Canada Post and Service NL announced that residents of the province are now able to receive, view and store driver’s licence and vehicle registration renewal notices through epost™. This milestone agreement makes Newfoundland and Labrador the first provincial government to offer key documents with epost − a safe, secure and free way to manage bills, statements and essential documents online. Residents can manage their vehicle registration in the same way as they do other bills and statements, in addition to having access from smartphones, tablets or computers.

“Service NL is always looking for ways to improve access to our services and provide better value for programs like these key motor registration services. Using epost is a great opportunity for our residents, providing them with a convenient option for receiving their renewal notices, as well as for completing their vehicle registration renewals online.”
- The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Service NL

The vehicle registration renewal notification on epost is linked directly to Service NL’s website and, without having to enter any additional login information, a customer has the option to renew their vehicle registration online. Driver’s licence renewal notices are also available through epost but normally require an in-person visit to update the licence photo every five years. With the driver licence renewal notice received through epost, residents can visit a Government Service Centre/Motor Registration office, located at various points throughout the province.

Information cards will be sent out in motor registration and driver’s licence renewal notices in addition to letters from Canada Post to epost and non-epost users in Newfoundland and Labrador. More information on epost can be found at www.epost.ca EXTERNAL and on the Service NL website at www.servicenl.gov.nl.ca.

Canada Post offers epost as a free digital mailbox that has one place, one login and one password for individuals to manage household bills and essential documents. Fully integrated with banks, epost allows for the consolidation and payment of bills and has bank-grade security which protects sensitive information. The service will send out reminders to users to help avoid late fees and also stores all bills and statements for up to seven years.
