Public Advisory: Provincial Government Advises Residents of Water Bomber Activity in Mud Lake Area

The Provincial Government is advising residents of water bomber activity related to fire suppression efforts in the area of Mud Lake. To ensure safety, recreational boaters are asked to avoid the area as water is being collected from the lake.

The fires were caused by lightning. At this time, the community is not in danger due to favourable wind conditions. In addition, the fire burning closest to the community is seven kilometres from Mud Lake.

The Department of Natural Resources has significant air support working on the fires and will deploy ground crews when it is safe to do so. With the forecast calling for high temperatures and no rain, officials are monitoring the fires closely.
