Supporting Mineral Development

Conference Highlights Value of Mining Industry in Baie Verte Area

Mines in rural communities, as well as continued exploration by prospectors, play a significant role in securing economic and employment opportunities for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. The value of the mining industry on the Baie Verte Peninsula was highlighted over the weekend at the 27th annual mining conference organized by the Baie Verte and Area Chamber of Commerce. The Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Natural Resources, spoke at the opening of the event on Friday evening.

“Mining has been a significant industry in the Baie Verte region for over 150 years and continues to be an important source of livelihood for many residents and their families. On Friday, I had the opportunity to visit Rambler Metals and Mining and Anaconda Mining. I was impressed with the professionalism and dedication of employees at each site. These mining operations and prospectors work to support industry growth and contribute to the long-term economic development in the Baie Verte area.”
