Supporting Fire Services for Rural Communities

Fire Services in District of Placentia - St. Mary’s Benefit from $287, 000 Investment

A new fire truck for St. Bride’s and firefighting equipment for communities throughout the District of Placentia - St. Mary’s were announced today in the community of St. Bride’s. The announcement was made by the Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister Responsible for Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador, together with Felix Collins, MHA for Placentia - St. Mary’s.

“Fire services throughout the district will be enhanced with over $287,000 in funding for the purchase of a new pumper truck and firefighting equipment including self-contained breathing apparatuses, personal protective equipment and communications equipment for several communities. Supporting the volunteers who risk their lives to protect residents is a key priority for this government. Reliable vehicles, safety and communication equipment for emergency responders are essential to their success, and these investments will improve their ability to respond in emergency situations.”

Through a cost-shared investment of $260,800, the community of St. Bride’s will purchase a new pumper truck. The Provincial Government is providing 90 per cent of the funding and the community is covering the remaining 10 per cent. The vehicle will be a four-door, 1,050 gallon per minute truck with Class A foam capability.

  • Today the Provincial Government announced over $287,000 in cost-shared funding for the purchase of a new pumper truck and firefighting equipment for the District of Placentia - St. Mary’s.
