Investing in Community Infrastructure

Investment of $1.3 Million Will Improve Municipal Infrastructure on the Northern Peninsula

The Provincial Government is committed to improving municipal infrastructure across Newfoundland and Labrador. As a result, $1.3 million in cost-shared funding is being invested in the District of The Straits – White Bay North to upgrade the water system in the Town of St. Anthony and for lift station projects in the Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm.

In St. Anthony, $434,000 will support upgrades to the water intake system. An investment of $829,600 will be made in the Town of Roddickton-Bide Arm for lift station projects which was part of the 2009 amalgamation agreement between the two communities.

These investments will be cost-shared, with the Provincial Government providing 90 per cent and the towns covering the remaining 10 per cent.

As part of investments through Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook, the Provincial Government has allocated $200 million for a three-year program for municipal infrastructure projects.
