Enhancing Infrastructure for Communities and Families

$1.2 Million Investment Will Improve Municipal Infrastructure in the District of Grand Falls-Windsor – Green Bay South

The Provincial Government has committed to a cost-shared investment of $1.2 million in the District of Grand Falls-Windsor - Green Bay South for important water and sewer infrastructure improvements and the expansion of the Triton fire hall. The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, was joined today by Ray Hunter, MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor - Green Bay South, for the announcement.

Water and sewer systems and fire safety infrastructure are important for the sustainability and future growth of communities and these investments demonstrate government’s commitment to supporting and strengthening rural Newfoundland and Labrador.”

The following is a breakdown of the $1.2 million investment:

  • $540,000 for the Town of Triton, which includes $500,000 for the expansion of the fire hall and $40,000 for a study related to a water treatment system;
  • $500,000 for water improvements in the Town of Port Anson; and
  • $200,000 for water and sewer system infrastructure in the Town of Miles Cove.

Between 2008 and 2013, the Provincial Government has invested $650 million in more than 1,200 water, wastewater, recreational and municipal infrastructure projects.

As part of investments through Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook, the Provincial Government has allocated $200 million for a three-year program for municipal infrastructure projects.
