Supporting Fire Services for Communities

$157,000 Investment Provides for Enhancements to Fire Protection Services in Grand Falls-Windsor - Buchans

A new fire truck for Buchans Junction and firefighting equipment for communities throughout the District of Grand Falls-Windsor - Buchans were announced today at the fire hall in the community of Buchans Junction. The announcement was made by the Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister Responsible for Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador, together with the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development and MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor - Buchans.

Providing reliable and modern equipment for emergency first responders is essential to their success, and these investments will strengthen their capability to respond during emergencies.”

Through a cost-shared investment of $125,500, the community of Buchans Junction will purchase a new rural response unit. The Provincial Government is providing 90 per cent of the funding and the community is covering the remaining 10 per cent. This versatile, self-contained truck and pumping apparatus has foam capability, a 300 gallon water tank and is ideal for fire departments in rural communities.
