Enhancing Communities Through Local Infrastructure Investments

Minister Announces $3.9 million in cost-shared funding for Town of Bay Roberts

The Provincial Government is supporting municipal infrastructure projects in the Town of Bay Roberts through a cost-shared investment of $3.9 million in multi-year capital works funding. Today, the Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, was joined by Glenn Littlejohn, MHA for Port de Grave, and Philip Wood, Mayor of the Town of Bay Roberts, for the announcement.

“With shifting populations and areas of high growth in rural parts of the province, we are seeing an increased demand for new and improved infrastructure. Today’s $3.9 million investment is part of our continued commitment to working with local municipalities to strengthen services and ensure the needs of residents and their families are being adequately addressed.”
- The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs

Projects being funded through this multi-year capital works allocation include road improvements and water and sewer upgrades in the community.

“The Town of Bay Roberts is the largest community in Conception Bay North and one of the fastest growing. These water and sewer improvements and road enhancements will provide modern and sustainable infrastructure and will strengthen services for many residents in Bay Roberts.”
- Glenn Littlejohn, MHA for Port de Grave

Bay Roberts is one of 22 communities which receive a multi-year capital works allocation. This funding is provided to support larger projects in the province’s bigger municipalities for a three-year period between 2014 and 2017.

“This is a significant investment that will improve our infrastructure for the benefit of the whole community. Thank you to the councillors and staff and all those who have worked hard to secure this funding.”
- Philip Wood, Mayor of the Town of Bay Roberts
