Investing To Enhance Communities
Residents of Port de Grave District Benefit from $1.4 Million in Infrastructure Funding
Through an investment of approximately $1.4 million in municipal capital works funding cost-shared with local communities, the Provincial Government is supporting key municipal infrastructure upgrades in the District of Port de Grave. The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, joined by Glenn Littlejohn, MHA for Port de Grave, made the announcement today.
“The Provincial Government is committed to working with communities to improve services and upgrade infrastructure for the benefit of residents. This $1.4 million investment, cost-shared with communities in the district, supports upgrades to water and sewer systems as well as the completion of necessary road improvements.”

These projects are cost-shared with the Provincial Government providing 90 per cent of the funding and the communities covering the remaining 10 per cent.
“These allocations are in addition to approximately $800,000 invested in the district last year and will provide enhanced services for residents and families. I congratulate councils from across the region on their efforts to deliver renewed infrastructure within their communities.”

The following is a breakdown of the $1.4 million investment:
- $600,000 for upgrades at the Mint Cove Road intersection as well as the intersection of Conception Bay Highway and Perry’s Hill in the Town of Spaniard’s Bay;
- $247,000 for upgrades to the sewage treatment system in the Town of Spaniard’s Bay;
- $422,000 for water and sewer upgrades to Wilsonville Avenue in the Town of Clarke’s Beach; and
- $136,000 for upgrades to St. Andrew’s Lane and Meadow Road in the Town of Upper Island Cove.
As part of Budget 2014 investments, the Provincial Government has allocated $200 million for a three-year program for municipal infrastructure projects.
