$350,000 Committed for Capital Works Funding for Burgeo-La Poile District

The Provincial Government is joining with the Town of Burgeo to provide $350,000 in cost-shared funding to upgrade the water distribution system in the community and improve water quality.

Funding for this project is cost-shared, with the Provincial Government providing 90 per cent of the funding and the Town of Burgeo contributing the remaining 10 per cent. The funding will assist with a chlorination upgrade for the town.

Municipal capital works funding for 2014 has been directed towards a number of drinking water system related projects. These projects include the construction of new facilities, the upgrading of distribution systems and the completion of feasibility studies.

As part of investments through Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook, the Provincial Government has allocated $200 million for a three-year program for municipal infrastructure projects.
