Delivering Infrastructure for Communities and Families

$900,000 Will Fund Water System Enhancements

The Provincial Government is committed to enhancing local infrastructure in towns and communities across the province. Budget 2014 provides $900,000, cost-shared with the Town of Pouch Cove, to initiate work on enhancements to the town’s water system. The Honourable Steve Kent, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, along with Kevin Parsons, MHA for Cape St. Francis, made the announcement today in Pouch Cove.

“Water systems are essential for the sustainability and future growth of communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We are committed to the health and well-being of all residents, through the provision of clean and safe drinking water. I am pleased that we are making this joint investment of $900,000, which will allow the Town of Pouch Cove to begin work on much needed improvements to the water system in the community.”

Funding for this project is cost-shared with the Provincial Government providing 90 per cent of the funding and the Town of Pouch Cove contributing the remaining 10 per cent.

Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook, allocates $200 million for a three-year program for municipal infrastructure projects.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to supporting important social programs, strong communities and the health and well-being of children, families and seniors.
