Media Advisory: Minister to Attend Exercise at Provincial Emergency Operations Centre

The Honourable Steve Kent, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister Responsible for Fire and Emergency Services-NL, will visit the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) tomorrow (Wednesday, March 12) to observe activities related to Exercise Shipping Blues.

Exercise Shipping Blues is an all-day emergency management exercise involving municipal, provincial and federal government agencies and departments, and non-governmental emergency management partners. This multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional exercise will focus on a marine related event in the Lewisporte area, with a goal of validating and enhancing emergency management plans for all participating organizations.

Rear Admiral John Newton, Commander of Joint Task Force Atlantic, will accompany the Minister during his visit to the EOC.

Media are invited for a photo opportunity to take place at the EOC, located in Fire and Emergency Services–NL headquarters at 25 Hallett Crescent, St.John’s, at 12:30 p.m.
