$167,000 Announced in Funding to Upgrade the Upper Island Cove Ball Field

The Provincial Government is announcing $167,000 in funding cost-shared with the Town of Upper Island Cove for the installation of new lighting to the existing ball field. The announcement was made today by the Honourable Steve Kent, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Glenn Littlejohn, MHA for Port de Grave.

“Being active and living a healthy lifestyle is important for the well-being of seniors, children and families across Newfoundland and Labrador. As a government, our goal is to provide the people of this province with quality facilities where they can exercise, have fun and stay fit and this investment of $167,000 is part of that commitment.”
- The Honourable Steve Kent, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs

In Upper Island Cove, $167,000 is being committed for the installation of a new lighting system for an existing softball field.

“The addition of this new lighting system will be of great benefit to the people of the region and in particular the CBN Minor Baseball Program. This will allow the town and its users extended hours of operation and more playing time for all who use the facility. It further enhances the health and well-being of the people in the region."
- Glen Littlejohn, MHA for Port de Grave

Since 2008, the Provincial Government has invested $650 million in more than 1,200 water, wastewater, recreational and municipal infrastructure projects.
