Energizing the Economy Through Investments in Aerospace

Year-Round Direct Flights Between St. John’s and London Heathrow Return

The Provincial Government is pleased that Air Canada will resume year-round, non-stop flights between St. John's and London Heathrow, U.K. The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, joined officials with Air Canada and the Airport Authority for the announcement today at St. John’s International Airport.

“The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is pleased that Air Canada has made the decision to return to year-round, direct flights from St. John’s to London and we are delighted to provide support to ensure its success. This move further illustrates the strong business climate here in Newfoundland and Labrador and validates the increasing demand for continued international access. This flight will not only enhance our tourism market, but will strengthen our access to European markets and positions Newfoundland and Labrador as a choice business destination."

A significant goal of the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development is to enhance air access to, from and within Newfoundland and Labrador by proactively promoting the province as a strategic epicentre for business, while also positioning the province as a prime tourism destination. Additionally, investments in tourism and cultural infrastructure, such as increased airline access, promote Newfoundland and Labrador as unique destination.
