Energizing the Economy Through Investments in Small Business Innovation

Over $11,000 Assists Magine Snowboards’ Market Expansion Goals

Magine Snowboards is shaking up the national snowboard scene with the help of $11,477 from the Provincial Government. Funding has aided Magine with their marketing and development efforts, as well as with the expansion of the company’s online and social media presence.

“Newfoundland and Labrador is becoming recognized on a global level for our specialized and technologically advanced companies. Magine Snowboards is a significant part of that growing recognition. I am pleased this investment of $11,477 is helping Magine to enhance their marketing efforts, which I am confident will lead to even more success for this hub of innovation on the Port au Port Peninsula as they continue to grow their business.” - The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development

With a passion for developing quality products, Magine handcrafts and presses snowboards using the highest quality Canadian lumber as well as environmentally-friendly biocomposite materials. In an effort to further set their products apart, Magine also partners with local artists to design unique and exclusive graphics for their snowboards.

“As Magine entered its fourth winter of operation, a key to growing our business was further developing the export market. With the help of the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, Magine Snowboards has been better able to relay our story to customers outside the province, and to let them know about all the new and innovative ways the company handcrafts quality snowboards in western Newfoundland.”
- Stephen Wheeler, Owner/Operator, Magine Snowboards

Magine Snowboards has previously received funding of $122,884 from the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development to support their innovation and product development efforts. Magine Snowboards was also recently featured in the Innovation Lives Here campaign, an energetic, story-focused media campaign that promotes the innovative work by entrepreneurs, industry and research institutions throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
