Strengthening the Economy Through Investments in Manufacturing

$562,000 Supports Efficient Manufacturing Practices for Local Businesses

The Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Division (CME-NL), is better positioned to represent the needs of business in the manufacturing and exporting sectors. The Provincial Government is providing $562,000 in funding to support the Manufacturing Insights initiative. The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, made the announcement today at the Innovation Outlook Conference, part of the province’s inaugural Innovation Week.

Through their work, the CME-NL creates economic and employment opportunities, stronger communities and a more diversified economy. I am pleased that our investment of $562,000 in the Manufacturing Insights Initiative will help enhance productivity awareness, skills training and competitiveness and allow businesses in our province to operate more effectively and efficiently.”

The Manufacturing Insights Initiative focuses on the implementation of lean manufacturing practices, which allows businesses to review and improve production practices. To date, the initiative has helped 38 Newfoundland and Labrador businesses meet their efficiency goals.
