Strengthening the Economy Through Sound Investments
Over $39,000 in Investments Support Regional Development and Planning Initiatives
To support initiatives that provide training and development opportunities for non-profit organizations, the Provincial Government is providing funding totalling $39,759 to 10 Newfoundland and Labrador-based groups. Funding supports the delivery of training sessions, as well as strategic economic planning sessions for staff, volunteers and members of non-profit organizations.
“Newfoundland and Labrador’s economy, especially in rural areas,
depends on the strength and longevity of community and volunteer-based
organizations. In order to grow the economy, it is essential that we invest
in industries and organizations throughout the province. This $39,759
investment supports development initiatives by providing organizations with
the resources they need to take advantage of growth opportunities, and
strengthens their ability to plan for the future by providing them with
skills essential for leadership. These investments in our people’s capacity
to stimulate regional economic growth represent outstanding value for
money.”
- The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural
Development
The funding announced today will support training and planning sessions for 10 organizations to advance organizational and business development. Sessions will provide an opportunity to bring people together to collaborate on the development of organizations in their communities, as well as shape economic development plans for regions and sectors. A list of groups receiving funding can be found in the backgrounder below.
Through sound fiscal management and responsible decisions, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is strengthening the business environment, encouraging the development of innovative industries, and building a vibrant economy.
