Investing in Long-Term Care Supports Communities and Families

Government Provides Nearly $1.7 Million to Four St. John’s Long-Term Care Facilities

The residents of four long-term care facilities in St. John’s will benefit from nearly $1.7 million in funding for facility upgrades and equipment.

Investments include:

  • $589,200 allocated to Agnes Pratt Home for roofing and attic insulation upgrades, six bed replacements, food preparation equipment and patient lifts.
  • $477,300 for Saint Luke's Homes to upgrade to the domestic water system, replace 12 beds and purchase a dishwasher.
  • $353,900 provided to Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge for upgrades to the storm water system to reduce the possibility of flooding during storms and to purchase 17 replacement beds and meal preparation equipment.
  • $268,700 allocated to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home to replace the air handling units and replace a food service cart.

Since 2004, the Provincial Government has invested nearly $1.5 billion in health care infrastructure. Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook includes a total investment of over $189 million in infrastructure, which allocates $119 million for continuing construction and redevelopment, $50.5 million for new equipment and $20 million for repairs and renovations.
