Acknowledging a Key Contributor to the Provincial Fishery

Provincial Government Recognizes Dedication of FFAW-Unifor President Earle McCurdy

Fish, Food and Allied Workers – Unifor (FFAW) President Earle McCurdy announced his retirement yesterday after more than three decades of service to the union membership. The Honourable Vaughn Granter, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, acknowledged Mr. McCurdy’s lifelong commitment to the interests of the unionized workers in the provincial seafood industry.

The Provincial Government respects his dedication, and wishes him all the best in retirement.”

Mr. McCurdy became FFAW President in 1993 after the departure of Richard Cashin, who co-founded the union in 1970. Mr. McCurdy had served as the union's secretary-treasurer for 13 years prior to becoming the President.
