Continued Focus on Responsible Decisions in Collective Bargaining

WHSCC Ratifies Collective Agreement with Government

Employees of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC) across the province have ratified a collective agreement with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Government has reached successful collective agreements with unions and employee associations representing more than 22,000 public employees in the last year, and I am pleased to see this latest agreement ratified by public sector workers. The success of the collective bargaining process can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of negotiating teams on both sides of the table.”
- The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board

The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public Employees (NAPE) represents the group of approximately 300 WHSCC employees.

The agreement shares the same framework as that reached with other NAPE groups, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, and the Association of Allied Health Professionals, including a five per cent salary increase over the term of the agreement and a one-time pro-rated payment of $1,400.

Through sound fiscal management and responsible decisions, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is strengthening the business environment, encouraging the development of innovative industries, and building a vibrant economy.
