Provincial Government Reaches Tentative Agreement with WHSCC

The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) has reached a tentative four-year agreement with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, representing approximately 300 employees of the Workplace, Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC).

“I am pleased to have reached another tentative agreement that recognizes public employees, while maintaining fiscal responsibility on behalf of the people of the province. This agreement further illustrates our government’s commitment to a successful collective bargaining process. Since 2013, our government has reached collective agreements with unions and associations representing more than 22,000 public employees.”
- The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board

The tentative agreement shares the same framework as that reached with other NAPE groups, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, and the Association of Allied Health Professionals. This includes a five per cent salary increase over the term of the agreement. It consists of zero per cent salary increase in years one and two of the agreement, two per cent in year three and three per cent in year four. In addition, employees will receive a one-time pro-rated payment of $1,400.

Through sound fiscal management and responsible decisions, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is strengthening the business environment, encouraging the development of innovative industries, and building a vibrant economy.
