Responsible Decisions; Responsible Government

Minister Responds to Auditor General’s Release of Report on Departments and Agencies

The Auditor General today released his report on departments and Crown agencies for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013. The report contains commentary and recommendations related to eight reviews of departments and Crown agencies.

“We acknowledge and thank the Auditor General for his important work in identifying areas for improvement which, in turn, allow us to constantly review the effectiveness of programs and services. Through this process, we continue to ensure accountability and transparency to the people of the province. Departments are closely reviewing recommendations from the latest annual report of the Auditor General and actions have been taken or will be taken, where necessary, to ensure sound and responsible governance."
- The Honourable Tom Marshall, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board

The Provincial Government has a proven track record of carefully considering all recommendations of the Auditor General and making changes where appropriate and in as timely a manner as possible. These results can be seen in responses to the Auditor General’s Update Reports over the past number of years.

“Our goal is to ensure the long-term sustainability of our programs and services. Much progress has been made over the past 10 years and we have outlined a course of action for the future through our 10-year sustainability plan released last year."
- Minister Marshall
