Strengthening and Enhancing Communities

$18.8 Million Investment Delivers Infrastructure Upgrades in City of Corner Brook

The Provincial Government is partnering with the City of Corner Brook to provide $18.8 million in cost-shared multi-year capital works funding for projects including street improvements, upgrades to the water and sewer system and new municipal software.

Funding will support important upgrades to roads and the construction of a new public works depot. In addition, a number of water and sewer and software upgrade projects will be completed that will benefit all residents.”

Projects being funding through this multi-year capital works allocation are:

  • $10.3 million for street improvements on Curling Street, Main Street, Old Humber Road, Riverside Drive and Edinburgh Street;
  • $3 million in additional funding for the replacement of the public works depot;
  • $3 million for storm sewer system upgrades to Bliss Street, East Valley Road, Fairview Avenue, MacPherson Avenue, West Valley Road, Woodbine, Brookfield Avenue, Confederation Drive, Gilbert Street and Raymond Heights;
  • $1.68 million in water system upgrades for Georgetown Road;
  • $635,000 for sanitary sewer system upgrades to Burke’s Road and Georgetown Road, as well as, lift station upgrades;
  • $200,000 in additional funding for enterprise resource planning software; and
  • $50,000 for asphalt planning software.

As part of investments through Budget 2014: Shared Prosperity, Fair Society, Balanced Outlook, the Provincial Government has allocated $200 million for a three-year program for municipal infrastructure projects.
