Media Advisory: Premier, Minister and Unions to Make Announcement Regarding Pension Reform
The Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, will make an announcement today (Tuesday, September 2) regarding pension reform. The Premier and Minister will be joined by Carol Furlong, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE); Bert Blundon, Secretary Treasurer of NAPE; Debbie Forward, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Nurses’ Union; Wayne Lucas, President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Newfoundland and Labrador Division; Virginia Whitten, President of the Association of Allied Health Professionals; and Jabez Lane, Business Manager with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Media will be provided with a technical briefing prior to the news conference at 1:30 p.m. in the Media Centre, Ground Floor, East Block, Confederation Building.
The news conference will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Media Centre.
