Committed to Fair Deals for Public Employees

Provincial Government Reaches Tentative Deal with Teachers

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has reached a tentative collective agreement with the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA), which represents 6,000 teachers across the province.

“This tentative agreement illustrates the success we can reach through a strong collective bargaining process, and is a testament to the hard work of the negotiating teams and the commitment of all parties to reach a deal. Our government values the important contribution teachers make in the lives of our young people, and we wanted to provide them with a fair deal which I believe we have achieved.”
- The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board

Details of the agreement will not be released until after the ratification process concludes. Members of the NLTA are expected to vote on the tentative agreement early in the new school year.
