The following statement was issued today by the Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador:

Paul Davis and Steve Kent have both tendered their resignations from Cabinet as they pursue the leadership of our party. In the short term, I have asked other members of Cabinet to assume their responsibilities until nominations close on Monday and we have a full picture of any additional resignations leaving Cabinet posts vacant. Until then, Minister Charlene Johnson will take responsibility for the Health and Community Services portfolio, Minister Clyde Jackman assumes the duties of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, as well as Fire and Emergency Services - NL. Minister Sandy Collins will cover the Office of Public Engagement.

If more resignations come, those responsibilities will also be temporarily assigned to members of the Cabinet. Next week, after the nomination process is closed, I will deal with all Cabinet changes on a more permanent basis.
