Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Employees Honoured with 2013 Public Service Award of Excellence

The Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, honoured 24 provincial employees today for their remarkable contributions to the public service.

The individuals we are honouring this year have demonstrated innovation, leadership, successful relationship building, and have achieved excellence in service delivery. On behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, I offer my deepest appreciation and thanks for their contributions to our province.”

Three teams and five individuals received the award at a ceremony held at the Delta Hotel, St. John’s.

The team award recipients are:

• Bay Roberts Garage Team, Transportation and Works – Jerry Bowering, Bruce Crocker, David Croke, Edwin Dawe, Ryan Doyle, Glenn Drover, Blair Noel, Rick White, and Tony Woodford;
• Geological Survey Promotions Team, Natural Resources – Sean O’Brien, Phillip Saunders, and Carolina Valverde-Cardenas; and
• Nunatsiavut Housing Needs Assessment Group, Finance and Aboriginal Affairs – Brian Harvey, Joseph Joy, Brad Lawrence, Darryl Maddigan, Janice Mayo, Robert Piccott, and April Traverse.

The individual award recipients are:

• Brian Brazil – Natural Resources;
• Weston Hunt – Transportation and Works;
• Christine Osmond – Child, Youth and Family Services;
• Sharon Porter-Trask – Environment and Conservation; and
• Richard St. Croix – Natural Resources.

• The 2013 Public Service Award of Excellence was awarded today to 24 Government of Newfoundland and Labrador employees.
• Five individuals and three teams were presented with the award which honours achievements in innovation, leadership, successful relationship building, and excellence in service delivery.
• The Public Service Award of Excellence was implemented in 2001. To date, 80 individuals and 40 teams have received the award.
