Honouring the Victims of Moncton Tragedy
Provincial Government Pays Tribute to Families and Communities in New Brunswick
The Provincial Government, on behalf of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, joins the people of New Brunswick and all Canadians in expressing condolences to those impacted by the recent tragedy in Moncton.
“We hold the men and women of our police forces in high regard. They are a part of the fabric that binds our communities. When tragedy falls upon them, it falls upon us all. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families, friends and colleagues of those three brave police officers who have lost their lives and those who were injured and impacted by this event. I commend all of our law enforcement officials for the work they do and for their dedication to keeping our communities and families safe.”
- The Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
An RCMP regimental funeral was held today for fallen Constables Dave Ross, Fabrice Georges Gevaudan and Douglas James Larche.
The Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Health and Community Services, attended the memorial service on behalf of the Provincial Government.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of New Brunswick. As a retired police officer, you have a special bond with all of those who have worn the uniform and go to work each day to protect their community. The sacrifice that these fallen officers made in the line of duty will never be forgotten. We must all come together to help heal this community and ensure that the families and their brothers and sisters in uniform find peace.”
- The Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Health and Community Services
The RCMP Foundation has set up the Moncton Fallen RCMP Members Memorial Fund in the memory of their colleagues. This is the only website where donations will be accepted. To donate please visit: www.rcmp.gc.ca/mem/fund-fonds-eng.htm
