Media Advisory: Premier to Speak at National Day of Honour Ceremony
The Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will speak at the ceremony to commemorate the inaugural National Day of Honour tomorrow (Friday, May 9) at the Cenotaph at Remembrance Square in Corner Brook. The event begins at 2:30 p.m. The Premier will be joined by the Honourable Steve Kent, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs.
The Government of Canada has officially proclaimed May 9 as the National Day of Honour in commemoration of Canada’s 12-year military mission in Afghanistan. Out of 158 casualties suffered by the Canadian Armed Forces, 13 were Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
