Premier Commends Minister Flaherty for his Service to Canada

Today, the Honourable Tom Marshall, Premier Newfoundland and Labrador, commented on the resignation of Federal Finance Minister, Jim Flaherty.

“As Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, I would like to thank and commend Minister Jim Flaherty for his outstanding service to the people of Canada over the past decade. It was largely because of his steady guidance that Canada was able to not only weather the worst global economic downturn in memory, but outperform most other countries and stand tall as the paradigm of prudent fiscal management.

“Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can be particularly appreciative of the work and decisions of Minister Flaherty which have helped strengthen and grow our province’s economy for generations to come. It has been a privilege to work with Minister Flaherty both in my roles as Premier and as Provincial Finance Minister and I wish him well in all his future endeavours.”
