Stellar Olympic Performance at Sochi
Kaetlyn Osmond Places 13th in Women’s Figure Skating Competition
Kaetlyn Osmond skated to a season’s personal best of 112.80 in the women’s free program in Sochi, Russia today, gaining her a place among the top skaters in the world. She finished the competition with a total score of 168.98, placing her 13th out of 24 skaters.

as we watched Kaetlyn Osmond give a stellar performance in Sochi. We are
very proud of her exceptional showing at the 2014 Olympics and our province
will continue to cheer her on in future endeavors. Congratulations, Kaetlyn!

The 18-year-old reigning Canadian champion won a silver medal on February 9 in the team figure skating competition.

athlete, and Kaetlyn Osmond personifies each and every one of them. Aside
from her athletic ability, she has exhibited professionalism, strength of
character and a charisma that is second to none. I extend to her my
sincerest congratulations on an outstanding performance.”

In the 2012–13 season, Ms. Osmond won her first international title at the 2012 Nebelhorn Trophy competition. She then made her senior Grand Prix debut at the 2012 Skate Canada event, where she captured the gold medal. She went on to win her first senior national title at the 2013 Canadian Championships and also placed eighth at the World Championships.

the ice, has been nothing short of inspirational. Students throughout the
province have followed her progress, and people in her hometown of Marystown
are proud to call her one of their own. She is a remarkable young woman, and
I can think of no better role model to encourage young people to always put
their best efforts forward and follow their dreams.”
