Families and Communities Benefiting from Youth Exchange Program

Hunting and Fishing Program Focuses on Conservation and Awareness

Twelve-year-old Adam Andrews of St. John’s is this year’s local recipient of the Atlantic Provinces’ Youth Hunting and Fishing Exchange Program sponsored in part by the Department of Environment and Conservation.

“The Youth Hunting and Fishing Exchange Program embraces the heritage and culture of hunting and fishing in Atlantic Canada and encourages our youth to become involved in conservation in our communities. It is a wonderful opportunity for young people to experience outdoor activities in a safe and structured environment.”
- The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation

Later this month, Adam and his grandfather Jim Upshall, will be spending three days with Bear Facts Outfitters at a waterfowl and upland game hunt in Nova Scotia. In July, Jamie Decoste – the winner from Nova Scotia – travelled with his father to Big Falls Tourist Lodge for a three-day excursion angling Atlantic salmon and brook trout.
