Media Advisory: Minister to Speak at the Gathering Place
The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation, will participate in the official re-opening of the Gathering Place tomorrow (Wednesday, October 29) at 2:00 p.m.
The Provincial Government provided nearly $900,000 to the Gathering Place for renovations to make it more energy efficient and more accessible, including $356,000 from the Department of Environment and Conservation, $500,000 from Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation through the Provincial Homelessness Fund, and $25,000 from the Department of Seniors, Wellness and Social Developmentās Inclusion Grant through its Disability Policy Office.
A non-profit organization formed in 1994 by the Sisters of Mercy and the Presentation Sisters, the Gathering Place provides services and respite to members of the community who need support from isolation and loneliness.
