Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Vaughn Granter, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Joe’s Lake Area ATV Trail               (Reg. 1761)
Proponent: Edward Stuckless

The proponent proposes to construct an ATV trail that will provide approximately 13 cabin owners with access from Joe’s Lake to the T’Railway Provincial Park. The trail will be 1.5 kilometres in length and 3.5 metres in width. Construction will consist of clearing vegetation and installing a culvert across one stream. The trail will connect the T’Railway Provincial Park to an old woods road, which intersects with the Trans Canada Highway approximately 5.4 kilometres west of Badger. Construction will begin upon receipt of approval and is expected to take two days to complete.

The undertaking was registered on July 30, 2014; the deadline for public comments is September 4, 2014 and the minister’s decision is due on September 13, 2014.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Grand Falls-Windsor Cranberry Farm Extension
Proponent: Newhook’s Cranberry Farm Inc.              (Reg. 1756)

The project was released subject to the following condition:

  • A minimum 50-metre naturally vegetated buffer must be maintained along all water bodies and wetlands to protect sensitive riparian and aquatic species and their habitat.
