Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Stoneville Shellfish Plant                               (Reg. 1759)
Proponent: Hodder’s Shellfish Inc.

The proponent proposes to construct and operate a shellfish processing plant approximately 10 metres by 35 metres adjacent to the shoreline of Dog Bay, north of Stoneville on the Port Albert Peninsula. The single building plant will be accessed by a newly constructed 200 metre driveway from an existing road. Construction is scheduled to start June 2014 upon receiving government approval.

The undertaking was registered on May 29, 2014; the deadline for public comments is July 10, 2014; and the minister’s decision is due by July 13, 2014.

WATER MONITORING NETWORK AGREEMENT APPROVED:

Kami Iron Ore Project                           (Reg. 1611)
Proponent: Kami Mine Limited Partnership

The Minister of Environment and Conservation has approved the Real-Time Monitoring Network Agreement between the department and Kami Mine Limited Partnership. The approval of the agreement was a condition of release of the project from further environmental assessment. All of the conditions of release have now been met for the construction phase of the project.
