The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

MINISTER'S DECISION EXTENDED:

Big Triangle Pond Mineral Exploration Access Road
Proponent: Eagleridge International Ltd.                 (Reg. 1725)

The Minister of Environment and Conservation and the proponent, Eagleridge International Ltd., have agreed to extend the review period for the Environmental Preview Report (EPR) associated with this proposal. A decision is due by June 6, 2014.

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT REQUIRED:

Whitbourne - Waste Recovery Facility
Proponent: Eastern Waste Management Limited                 (Reg. 1746)

The Minister of Environment and Conservation has advised the proponent that an Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required for this project. The EPR is necessary to provide additional information including, but not limited to, a site selection plan and an assessment of alternatives, a requirement to conduct a public information session, a detailed operations plan specific to operating the waste recovery facility in order to determine appropriateness of the proposed service area for open windrow composing of municipal solid waste and detailed pest management strategy. The public will be invited to provide comments on the EPR upon its submission. Botwood Highway Forage and Pasture Land Development
Proponent:Summit Ridge Farms                 (Reg. 1749)

The project is released subject to the following condition:

  • A 50-metre naturally vegetated buffer must be maintained around the wetland identified in the proposed development area.
